RangeLAN802 8400 PC Cards with dipole and snap-on antennas

Fast Wireless Access to your Local Area Network
The RangeLAN802 8400 PC Card is an IEEE 802.11-compliant wireless LAN adapter that provides mobile users with fast and high-quality network access. Based on 2.4 GHz frequency hopping, spread spectrum (FHSS) technology, it provides an optimum blend of speed, interference immunity, and coverage area. Operating at a radio data rate of 2 Mbps, the RangeLAN802 PC Card is ideal for bandwidth-hungry applications. FHSS technology was pioneered by Proxim in 1994 and is tailor-made for networking applications benefiting from mobility.

For the largest possible area coverage, Proxim XR technology boosts radio output power to 400 mW*. XR technology can provide area coverage increases approaching 30% indoors and 100% outdoors.

Increased Security Through Wired Equivalent Privacy
Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), an optional RC4 encryption algorithm, helps ensure the security of your data. Before data are transmitted, they are streamed through an RC4 algorithm, an efficient encryption process designed for LAN communications. Additionally, all RangeLAN802 devices are authenticated through a challenge-and-response mechanism before being allowed network access. Both wireless and wired LANs are thus fortified against eavesdropping and unauthorized access by hackers or other nearby 802.11-compliant devices.

Reliable Wireless Connections Just about Anywhere
The speed of the RangeLAN802 PC Card does not come at the expense of reliability and robustness. Proxim’s only focus is wireless LANs. This focus has resulted in rugged designs and finely tuned algorithms that handle adverse radio conditions. In fact, Proxim technology has been selected for use in some of the harshest environments around, including heavy industry, on North Sea oil rigs--even aboard the Space Shuttle.

Graphical Site Survey Tool Simplifies Installation and Monitoring
Proxim’s unique Site Survey Software is provided with each RangeLAN802 8400 PC Card. A desktop icon indicates connectivity status. Double click the icon and it becomes a graphical survey and diagnostic tool that can help design, install, and continuously monitor your wireless network.
