Synopsis

Providing Mobile Connectivity to your Ethernet or Token Ring LAN
RangeLAN2 Ethernet and Token Ring Access Points (APs) provide standards-based connectivity from your wired Ethernet or Token Ring network to your wireless RangeLAN2 or other OpenAir-certified product. With comprehensive management features, easy installation, exceptional durability and reliability, and outstanding performance, Proxim access points meet your requirements for industrial-strength wireless networking equipment.

RangeLAN2 APs use Proxim's patented frequency-hopping spread-spectrum (FHSS) technology. This technology underpins the Proxim products that have been awarded PC Magazine's Editors' Choice and LAN Magazine's Product of the Year. Little wonder more OEM solutions providers have standardized on RangeLAN2 technology than all other wireless LAN solutions combined.

Multiple Management Options to Meet Your Needs
Manage your RangeLAN2 Access Points using the wired network interface, the wireless network, a direct serial link, or even a dial-up phone line (modem not included). Your choice of telnet, web browser, or SNMP interfaces let you remotely monitor traffic, set configuration parameters, and upgrade software.Advanced diagnostics help isolate problems. RangeLAN2 APs support many standard SNMP agents and Proxim's enterprise MIB for comprehensive management.SNMP traps provide notifications for fault conditions or security violations. The extensive management features available on RangeLAN2 APs could make installation your first and last physical visit to the unit.

Designed for Industrial Environments
RangeLAN2 APs are small, lightweight units, rugged enough to be placed in the harshest of industrial environments. RangeLAN2 APs bring connectivity to your most difficult locations with their wide temperature window and robust mechanical design (no moving parts). In hospitals or offices, RangeLAN2 AP styling is at home mounted on a cubicle wall or hidden behind ceiling tiles. An optional NEMA 4 enclosure further extends your AP placement options.

Optimized Bandwidth
All RangeLAN2 APs can filter traffic at full wire speeds, keeping unnecessary traffic off the airwaves and optimizing performance on busy networks. A variety of protocol and broadcast filters let network designers further eliminate traffic from the wireless medium. Proxim APs tailor MAC-level contention management protocols to optimize throughput based on current network loads.

XR Technology Delivers Widest Coverage Possible
For the largest possible area coverage Proxim XR technology boosts radio output power to 500mW*. Available in both the Ethernet and Token Ring APs, XR technology can provide area coverage increases approaching 30% indoors and 100% outdoors. APs equipped with XR technology are fully compatible with allRangeLAN2 and OpenAir-certified products. Enhanced receiver circuitry with XR-enabled APs allowing you to use existing clients while still reaping the benefits of increased range.
