BreezeACCESS MMDS

BreezeACCESS MMDS (Multichannel Multipoint Distribution Services) is a high-performance alternative to wire access networks, including DSL and cable modems. BreezeACCESS MMDS offers large service providers a carrier-class system that is flexible, scalable and easy to deploy.

Operating in the 2.5 to 2.7 GHz frequency bands, BreezeACCESS MMDS is IP-optimized for Internet-centric data and voice communications. Employing TDD and FH-CDMA technologies, BreezeACCESS MMDS does not require contiguous spectrum, therefore can utilize MMDS and ITFS channels that are not adjacent, allowing for more efficient use of existing spectrum.

By creating a digital canopy, the BreezeACCESS MMDS micro-cellular architecture enables service providers to deploy based on coverage and capacity needs. As user demands change, carriers can easily reallocate resources to meet the growing demand. BreezeACCESS MMDS complements existing networks and can easily expand coverage to underserved areas.

Customer Premises Equipment

BreezeACCESS MMDS Subscriber Units with an Outdoor Radio Unit and Antenna

These units include an indoor desktop or wall-mountable unit and an outdoor unit with an integral flat 17dBi antenna.

A coaxial (IF) cable connects the two units and serves for the transmission of signals as well as for transferring power, management and control signals from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit. SU-A units deliver 29dBm output power at the antenna port. The Subscriber Units connect to data equipment using a standard IEEE 802.3 Ethernet 10BaseT (RJ 45) interface. The data plus voice subscriber units supports telephony services through a standard POTS (RJ 11) interface that connects to the telephone.

BreezeACCESS MMDS Desk Top Indoor Subscriber Units

These units include an indoor desktop or wall-mountable unit and an indoor wall mounted 7dBi antenna.

The SU-R series subscriber units, designed primarily for indoor installations, are compact desktop or wall mountable units. They have 28 dBm RF output power and support for diversity antennae. The SU-R-8D-E includes a 7 dBi antenna which has 3 meters of thin RF cable and can be wall or window mounted. The standard 10BaseT Ethernet port and included Ethernet cable allow for quick connection to any network ready PC. The SU-R-8D1V model also supports telephony services through a RJ11 jack, connecting to any standard telephone.

Base Station Equipment

The BreezeACCESS MMDS family includes a Base Station Unit and two types of Access Units with differing architectures:

Base Station Shelf with Access Unit Modules

The AU-E-BS line of modular Access Units comprises an indoor module (BS-AU) and an outdoor unit, the AU-RE. The outdoor unit contains the radio module and a RF connector for a separate external antenna. A coaxial (IF) cable connects between the indoor module and the outdoor unit and serves for the transmission of signals between the two units as well as for transferring power, management and control signals from the indoor module to the outdoor unit. The indoor BS-AU module is designed to be inserted into a 19” BS-SH chassis that can contain up to six active BS-AU modules. The BS-AU Access Units can be synchronized for optimal utilization of the available frequency spectrum. The BS-SH chassis contains one or two redundancy BS-PS power supply modules that are powered from a –48 VDC power source. AU-E-BS units deliver 29dBm of output power at the antenna port. Connectivity to the network is through a standard IEEE 802.3 Ethernet 10BaseT (RJ 45) interface.

Stand-Alone “Micro-Cell” Access Units

The AU-E-NI line comprises stand alone Access Units that are similar to the AU-E-BS units, using the same SU-RE outdoor units. The indoor part of the Access Unit, the AU-NI, is a stand-alone desktop or wall-mountable unit rather than a module. The AU-NI unit is powered from the mains (100-250 VAC). In the AU-E-NI product line, the AU-RE outdoor unit contains the radio module and a RF connector for a separate external antenna. A coaxial (IF) cable connects between the indoor module and the outdoor unit and serves for the transmission of signals between the two units as well as for transferring power, management and control signals from the indoor module to the outdoor unit. AU-E-NI units deliver 29dBm of output power at the antenna port. The AU connects to the network through a standard IEEE 802.3 Ethernet 10BaseT (RJ 45) interface.
